It’s been said plenty of times before: everyone needs help from time to time. A mechanic in the State of Idaho is doing just that — he’s helping people. Specifically, he’s turning down paid jobs so that he can help wounded veterans.
Brett Waters has a talent for repairing cars. However, instead of taking the time to fix automobiles and earn money, Waters is using his skills to recondition motorized wheelchairs for wounded warriors. The best part: Brett Waters is doing this for no cost.
Working on these wheelchairs off and on, it takes about a week to get it completed finished. Several different components of the chair have to be retooled, including: mechanics, upholstery, and even the paint. Waters does this to thank the veterans who served the country and gave their freedom. The good feeling he receives from helping out is payment enough.
The wheelchairs are noted for being better than brand new by the time Brett gets finished with them. Interestingly enough, the first chair Waters worked on should have technically been thrown away. However, by the time Waters was finished, it was better than new. This new chairs are often given to veterans who are leaving rehabilitation centers and can’t afford a chair on their own.
How Do You Give Back?
Brett Waters is just one example of a good man who gives back to his community. There are plenty of others who have found various ways to assist those in need. Specifically, volunteering for different causes is a great way to not only show you care, but to give back to those who are in need.
How do you currently give back? Do you donate old clothes or household items? Perhaps you donate your time and volunteer at different organizations? Remember, it’s never to let to get started and lend a helping hand. With a little bit of help, a difference can be made.
