Know Your Strengths and Abilities
Before you start looking for work, it will be important to know what you can and cannot do. To save time and make your search easier, create a list of strengths. For example, know what you’re good at and what you enjoy doing, then pursue a career in that field. Once you decide on the type of employment you want to pursue, it will be much easier to search for job opportunities. You’ll also be able to make a list of jobs you don’t want to pursue.
Use Various Resources
When searching for a job or career, make sure you appropriately use all of your available resources. For example, contacting a state employment or vocational rehabilitation center may prove to be useful. Often times, there are avenues to explore that can help place those in wheelchairs with an opportunity that fits accordingly.
Ask Around
Make sure that those who are closest to you (family and friends) are well aware of the fact that you’re searching for employment opportunities. You never know when someone will be knowledgeable of a job that would be a perfect fit for you. After all, the chore of networking is quite beneficial when it comes to job hunting.
Stay Positive
The task of hunting for a job can be quite tedious. It will be important to always stay positive — don’t get discourage. Keep pursuing opportunities and make sure you always keep your resume up to date. Remember, the more resumes you send out, the higher your chances will be of getting a job.
